Baseball Inks Devin Wilburn To National Letter Of Intent
April 21, 2010 | Baseball
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State baseball head coach Greg Beals announced the signing of local product Devin Wilburn (Selma, Ind./Wapahani) to a national letter of intent Wednesday afternoon. Wilburn joins seven players who signed in the fall and will join the Cardinals for the 2011 season.
"We are excited to have another local talent join our program," Beals said. "Devin has been on our radar for a long time and we saw early this spring that he can contribute to our pitching staff. After a great winter off-season workout program, he has enjoyed a great senior campaign thus far."
Wilburn is a four-year standout at Wapahani High School for coach Brian Dudley. He has burst out of the gate in 2010 with a 0.33 ERA in 21.0 innings pitched for Wapahani while posting a 2-0 record with one save. He has tallied 51 strikeouts this season while only walking five batters.
Wilburn, a three-time All-Mid-Eastern Conference selection, owns a 20-8 career record for the Raiders with a 2.40 ERA. He has tossed three career no-hitters for Wapahani while recording 218 strikeouts. He played summer baseball for the Indiana Bulls and the Muncie Legion Post #19.
Wilburn joins the recruiting class that includes Jacob Brewer (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph), Cody Campbell (Muncie, Ind./Cowan), Derek Hannahs (Robinson, Ill./Robinson), Tyler Jordan (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South), Kenneth Mahala (Highland, Ind./Andrean), Mitch Overley (Zionsville, Ind./Brebeuf) and T.J. Weir (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo).
