Ball State Alumni Association Homecoming Updates
Ball State's football game Oct. 9 vs. Western Michigan has been set as the school's 84th Homecoming Game. The Homecoming Steering Committee has selected "Rock the Red" as the theme for this year's Homecoming.
The Cardinals will open the season Thurs., Sept. 2, at Scheumann Stadium vs. Southeast Missouri State. The following Saturday, Ball State will host Liberty. After three straight road games -- at Purdue, at Iowa and at Central Michigan -- the Cardinals will host the WMU Broncos for Homecoming.
Ball State owns a 51-30-2 overall mark in Homecoming contests, including victories in two of the last three years.
The Homecoming Steering Committee and Ball State Alumni Association will observe Homecoming Week Oct. 3-9. The committee is comprised of 15 students and four Ball State Alumni Association staff members. Staff members serving as advisers are Michelle Johnson, a former assistant in the Ball State athletics media relations office, and Kate Webber. Julie Johnson will serve as assistant adviser and Ed Shipley, the executive director of the BSUAA, serves as the sponsor.
"The theme this year merges school spirit with a rock and roll theme," Chanel Richards, general chairperson of the Homecoming Steering Committee, says. "When picking a theme the committee wanted to reach the entire Ball State community. Every year the steering committee tries to put a new twist on all events."
This year's Homecoming Steering Committee includes Lily Barker (Bed Race), Joey Box (Residence Halls), Kait Buck (Special Events), Jenna Day (Air Jam), Bryan John (Special Events), Danielle Larison (Talent Search), Kalyn Long (Royalty), Cailee Morris (Awards/Judges), Chanel Richards (General Chairman), Meaghan Sigman (Publicity), Carmen Stockberger (Student Organizations), Paula Truex (Parade), Alexandra Vaillancourt (Opening Day), Matt Wells (Community/Sponsorship) and Brittney Williams (Faculty and Staff).
