WBB Ends Season With MAC Quarterfinal Loss

After battling to a 30-30 tie in the first half, the Rockets came out in the second half on a 5-0 run to take a 37-32 advantage over the Cardinals. Toledo would then build an 11-point cushion with 14:45 left to play in the game.
The early second period deficit was too much for the Cardinals to overcome as Toledo controlled the remainder of the contest and increased its lead to 16 (67-51) with just under five minutes to play. Despite not scoring a field goal in the final 4:18 of the game, the Rockets connected on 11-of-13 free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
Behind a 54 percent field goal shooting mark in the second half, the Rockets were able to pull away as their defense limited the Cardinals to a 33 percent mark from the field, including only 2-of-13 three pointers for Ball State.
The game marked the final collegiate game for Ball State seniors Danielle Gratton and Audrey McDonald. McDonald scored 13 points, while adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Gratton, who was sidelined early with an injury, but battled back later in the game, managed two points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Cardinals were led by Ty'Ronda Benning's 16 points, while Emily Maggert added 12 and tied for team-high honors with six rebounds. Magger, McDonald and Jade Barber each tallied six boards in the game. Barber added six points and four blocks for Ball State.
Ball State shot 40 percent from the field in the first half, while the Rockets shot 43 percent in a game that was tied at 30-30 at the half.
