Women's Basketball Faces Butler at Home Sunday

Scouting Ball State: The game resulted in Illinois State leading from start to finish, Ball State was unable to rebound from its 26-point halftime deficit losing Thursday night to the Redbirds by an 77-51 margin. With the loss the Cardinals dropped to 4-4 on the season, senior forward Emily Maggert was the high scorer for Ball State with 12 points while adding six rebounds.
Scouting Butler: The Bulldogs had several opportunities to tie the game or take the lead in the final seconds, but couldn't capitalize as the Butler women's basketball team lost at Evansville, 51-49, Tuesday afternoon. Senior Alyssa Pittman led Butler with 12 points. The Bulldogs entire today's contest with a 4-4 overall record. Butler is the fourth team from the Horizon League that the Cardinals will have faced this season.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 44-30 (.594), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . Beth Couture is in her ninth year as Butler's head coach. Couture owns a 132-117 career record at Butler.
The Series: The game versus Butler is the 19th meeting all time between the two schools. Ball State trails the all-time series record 7-11. In the last meeting the Cardinals suffered an 82-67 loss at Butler after falling behind by 13-points to the Bulldogs at intermission. Despite the loss senior forward Emily Maggert had a career high 26-point performance that day, Maggert also managed 12 rebounds while recording her eigth double-doulbe of the 2009-10 season.
