Men's Golf Inks Zach Yinger

Zach Yinger, a senior at Sidney High School in Sidney, Ohio, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Ball State University and compete on the men's golf team, according to Ball State head men's golf coach Mike Fleck.
Yinger earned four letters for Coach Doug Barhorst at Sidney H.S., and averaged 36.0 as a senior. He was named the Greater Western Ohio Conference Player of the Year for a third straight season as a senior. In addition, Yinger was selected to the All-GWOC North Division First Team all four years.
He helped the Yellow Jackets to sectional titles in 2007 and 2010 and the 2009 conference championship.
As a junior, Yinger averaged 35.6, was named All-Ohio First Team and finished as the runnerup in the state tournament. He tallied a 36.1 average as a sophomore and placed 11th in the state meet. Yinger averaged 36.2 as a freshman.
Yinger set the Sidney H.S. school record for nine holes with a 31 on two different occasions and the 18-hole school mark of 65, which he set at the Beechwood Golf Course in conference play as a senior. He also holds the course record at the Colonial Golf Club where he managed a 64 in 2007. Yinger made his first hole in one at the age of nine in 2002.
Yinger, who owns a 3.114 grade-point average on the school's 4.0 scale, qualified for the 2010 U.S. Junior Amateur. He has also earned three letters in basketball at Sidney H.S., and is in the midst of his senior season. Yinger has been an all-conference first-team choice each of the last two years.
