Bronze Stalk Game
Ball State and Northern Illinois play each year for the Bronze Stalk in a rivalry game which was announced at the 2007 game and began with the 2008 contest. Ball State and NIU first played each other in football in 1941. The Bronze Stalk trophy was designed by local DeKalb, Ill., artist and nationally recognized sculptor Renee Berris.
Women's Basketball Game
Ball State's women's basketball team will host Evansville Saturday night at 6 p.m. Any ticket from Saturday's football game vs. Northern Illinois will gain free admission to the women's basketball game vs. Evansville.

The Last Meeting: Northern Illinois managed a 26-20 victory in Dekalb, Ill., Nov. 12, 2009 . . . Ian McGarvey kicked a pair of field goals to narrow Northern Illinois' halftime margin to 16-13, but with 4:56 to play in the game, the Huskies scored to take a 26-13 lead . . . Late in the fourth quarter, Ball State quarterback Tanner Justice completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Ifft to close the gap to 26-20 . . . Ball State regained possession in the closing minutes but could not score.
Familiar Face: Jeff Phelps (Ball State '98) is in his fifth year as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois . . . Phelps, who was a captain on the 1997 team as a senior, lettered for the Cardinals from 1994-97 . . . He was a member of the 1996 team that won the Mid-American Conference Championship and played in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Ball State Head Coach Stan Parrish: Stan Parrish (Heidelberg '69) is in his sixth season at Ball State and his second as the Cardinals head coach . . . He was named the school's 15th head football coach Dec. 18, 2008, and was the head mentor in Ball State's Jan. 6, 2009, GMAC Bowl appearance . . . Parrish became the first Ball State assistant coach promoted to head coach since Wave Myers in 1968 . . . One of five finalists for the 2008 Broyles Award, which goes to the nation's top assistant, Parrish owns a 63-59-3 career head coaching record at Wabash (1978-82), Marshall (1984-85), Kansas State (1986-88) and Ball State . . . Parrish earned a college football national championship ring as a member of the 1997 Michigan coaching staff and owns an NFL Super Bowl ring after serving as quarterbacks coach of the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers . . . Parrish has been selected for induction into the Heidelberg College Athletic Hall of Fame . . . Parrish is a part of the 25th induction class in school history.

- MiQuale Lewis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.), who ranks second on Ball State's career rushing chart with 3,748 yards, needs 255 yards to become Ball State's all-time leader . . . Ball State's all-time rushing leader is Marcus Merriweather, who gained 4,002 yards from 1999-2002 . . . Lewis now has 761 career rushing attempts, which ranks third all-time at Ball State . . . He ranks behind Bernie Parmalee's 805 from 1987-90, and Merriweather's 851 from 1999-2002.
- Sean Baker (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield H.S.) intercepted two passes and returned a fumble for a touchdown in Ball State's 20-3 win at Buffalo . . . Baker became Ball State's career interceptions leader with his 15th and 16th picks in his first three seasons.
- Ian McGarvey (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove H.S.) became Ball State's all-time career leading scorer after connecting on field goals of 40 and 32 yards plus made two point after attempts to bring his career total to 284 . . . He passed the mark of 279 by Kenny Stucker from 1988-91 . . . McGarvey has made 55 career field goals and 119 extra points.
- Jason Pinkston (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville H.S.) intercepted his fourth pass of the season and the seventh of his career with 10:52 remaining in the third quarter of Ball State's 20-3 victory at Buffalo.
Scouting Northern Illinois
The Record: Northern Illinois improved to 8-2 overall and 6-0 in the Mid-American Conference with a 65-30 home win vs. Toledo Nov. 9 . . . The Huskies have won seven straight games.
The Coach: Jerry Kill (Southwestern, Kan. '83) is in his third year as the head coach at Northern Illinoi and his 17th year as a head collegiate mentor . . . Kill owns a 125-72 career coaching mark, including a 21-15 mark at NIU.
The Stats: Northern Illinois is scoring 34.1 points per game, while allowing 19.8 a contest . . .
