WBB Hosts Indiana In Season Opener Friday

Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals defeated St. Joseph's college 105-56 in exhibition action Nov. 5. Every player in uniform scored for the Cardinals with senior forward Emily Maggert leading the way with a double-double performance which included 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ball State had four other Cardinals reach double figures, Suzanne Grossnickle and Ebony Jackson with 13 points apiece while true freshmen Jordan Huber chipped in 12 and Jazmin Hitchens had 10.
Scouting Indiana: The Hoosiers are 2-0 in exhibition play this season posting wins over Alaska-Anchorage (72-49) and Indianapolis (76-41). IU ended exhibition play Saturday with five Hoosiers scoring in double figures. Senior All-America candidate Jori Davis led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds over Indianapolis.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 40-26, while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . Indiana's head coach is Felisha Legette-Jack . . . she enters her fifth season as head coach for the Hoosiers . . . Legette-Jack has led IU to 72 wins and three trips to postseason play in the last four years.
The Series: Tonight's game is the 28th meeting all-time between Ball State and Indiana. The Cardinals trail the all-time series record 24-3, including losses in the past 19 meetings. The last time these two team's met was in 2008-09 in the preseason WNIT at Assembly Hall. Ball State loss the contest 84-68. This is the Hoosiers first visit back to Worthen Arena since 2007-08 when IU won that game 76-71.
Fun Fact: Head coach Kelly Packard begins her third season at the helm of the Cardinals. For the third straight season Ball State will open its season against a Big Ten opponent. In 2008-09 the Cardinals were at Indiana and in 2009-10 Ball State opened the season at Michigan. The 2010-11 campaign marks the first time in two years Ball State will open its season at Worthen Arena.
