Cross Country Travels To Terre Haute For Pre-National Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - - In its final tune up before the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championships, the Ball State cross country team travels to Terre Haute, Ind., for Saturday's 6K Pre-National Invitational which will be run at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
In addition to hosting the pre-national race, the LaVern Gibson Championship Course is the home of the 2010 NCAA Championships, which will be run Monday, Nov. 22.
The Cardinals are slated to compete in the first of six races on the day, running alongside 39 other teams in the Women's Blue Race which is schedule for 11 a.m.
Other schools competing in the Women's Blue Race include: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, BYU, Central Michigan, California, Clemson, Colorado State, Columbia, Dartmouth, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Florida State, Illinois State, Iowa, Iowa State, Liberty, Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Portland, Princeton, Providence, Purdue, Richmond, Southern Utah, Texas, UCLA, UTEP, Vanderbilt, William & Mary, Washington, Weber State, Wichita State.
Overall, 1,600 runners will compete in the six races which will make for a full day of outstanding competition on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. This is the seventh straight year, and the eighth time in the last nine years that Indiana State has hosted the Pre-National Invitational.
After collecting her second-straight third-place finish of the season, senior Ali Bishel looks to lead the Cardinals at this weekend's Pre-National Invitational. In her last appearance at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course, posted a career-best 6K time of 21:04.7 to place 67th at the 2009 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
