Field Hockey Prepares For Fairfield And Villanova

Junior Hannah Jones (Louisville, Ky./Dupont Manual) and senior Brooke MacGillivary (North Vancouver, B.C./Carson Graham) led Ball State with three goals apiece in the previous two victories. Jones was also awarded her first Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors for her performance.
Saturday's game is the first meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Fairfield. Sunday's game marks the second meeting all-time between Ball State and Villanova, with Ball State having defeated Villanova 3-2 in 2007.
Fairfield dropped its 2009 season opener at Connecticut 8-1. The Stags held a 4-14 overall record in 2008 with a 1-4 record in the American East Conference. Villanova lost in a shutout to No. 16 Old Dominion 2-0 in its first game this season. The Wildcats posted a 12-7 record, 2-4 in the Big East Conference in 2008.
Ball State will play in its home opener 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 22 against Ohio State. The game will be broadcast on WCRD 91.3 FM.
