Softball?s Reifschneider Earns All-Tournament Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. ? Ball State junior first baseman Jen Reifschneider (Wichita, Kan./Maize) has been named to the USF Under Armour Showcase All-Tournament Team, the University of South Florida announced Monday.
Reifschneider led the Cardinals to a 3-3 weekend and at the 2009 Under Armour Showcase as she posted a .944 slugging percentage this week, driving in 9 runs with two doubles and three home runs. Her batting average of .333 included six hits for a total of 17 bases. She also earned 43 putouts at first base.
With a 6-5 win over Boston University Friday, Reifschneider stepped to the plate for the Cardinals and knocked a two-run homer over the center field wall, allowing Alyssa Collins to score. The run put Ball State up 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth. Against Big Ten foe Indiana Saturday, Reifschneider hit home run No. 6 this season on a long shot down the right field line. Her two-run homer pushed Collins in as well for her sixteenth RBI. She then sent her second hit of the game over the left field wall for a solo home run in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach for the Hoosiers.
With seven home runs this season, she is just one shy of the Ball State single-season home run record.
Reifschneider and the Cardinals return to action Wednesday in their home opener at the BSU Softball Complex against Valparaiso for a double header starting at 2 p.m.
