Field Hockey Adds Eight Spring Games

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State field hockey team has scheduled eight spring competitions in four days during the months of March and April.
The Cardinals, led by sixth-year head coach Annette Payne Ball State, are coming off a 2-17 campaign in 2008.
The team plays Sunday, March 29 at Big Ten foe Indiana as well as Big East opponent Louisville. On Saturday, April 4, the team travels to Louisville, Ky. to face Miami and Ohio. Saturday, April 18 the Cardinals take on Ohio State, Kent State and Indiana.
Ball State plays in its annual Alumni game Saturday, April 25 at the BSU Turf Field.
Ball State played all teams except Louisville during the 2008 season, including a close 3-1 loss to Mid-American Conference Champions Kent State.
The two spring games will serve as preparation for the 2009 season. Ball State returns 14 players for the upcoming fall season, including freshmen top scorers Brittany Hammer and Caitlin Maguire. The Cardinals also recently signed four high school players to join the program this fall.
