Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals enter today's game with a 5-5 overall record after defeating Duquesne Saturday afternoon 71-62. It was a career day for junior forward Emily Maggert as she scored a personal best 25 points in Ball State's win. She also earned her sixth double-double of the season and eighth of her career after pulling down 15 rebounds. She shot 78 percent from the field (11-of-14) for the week. Two other Cardinals reached double digits on the day with senior guard Audrey McDonald chipping in 11 points and junior guard Ty'Ronda Benning ending the day with 10. The Cardinals are coached by Kelly Packard who is 31-14 in her second year as head coach at Ball State.
Scouting Evansville: Evansville enters today's contest with a 2-8 overall record. The Purple Aces are coming off of a 42-73 loss at Purdue Saturday. Evansville has defeated Saint Louis and Lipscomb so far this season. The Purple Aces are led offensively by Amy Gallagher who is averaging 9.1 points per game and defensively by Samantha Heck who is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game. The Purple Aces are coached by Misty Murphy (Colorado St., '98)and is 17-27 in her second season as head coach at UE. She owns a 125-92 career coaching record in her eighth year as a collegiate head coach.
Coaching Fun Fact: Both Kelly Packard and Misty Murphy coached together at Colorado State in the 1990's.
Three Game Roadswing: So far the Cardinals are 1-0 on their three game roadswing. Ball State faced Duquesne first and won 71-62 Saturday. The Cardinals now travel to Evansville Tuesday before ending road play at Butler, Dec. 30.
