Scouting Ball State: The Ball State University women's basketball team (7-6) dropped a 79-69 decision to St. Louis (5-9) Sunday afternoon in Chaifetz Arena. Green led all scorers with 16 points. Freshman Amber Clark made her collegiate debut hitting back-to-back layups and a free throw to bring the Cardinals within five 64-59 with 5:34 left in the game. Clark would then hit another basket from the charity stripe to make it a 64-60 ball game. Clark ended the day with eight points. The Cardinals will open the Mid-American Conference season at home against Eastern Michigan Wednesday night in Worthen Arena. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. Ball State was the MAC West Division favorite and had two players on the Preseason All-MAC team in Emily Maggert and Porchia Green.
Scouting Eastern Michigan: The Eagles dropped their last non-conference game of the season to Dayton 61-54 Sunday afternoon. Sydney Huntley-Rogers led EMU with 18 points. Eastern Michigan owns a 4-8 overall mark and will open league play at Ball State Wednesday. EMU matched Ball State with an 11-5 MAC record last season. Both school's were crowned MAC Champions last year.
Series History: This is the 57th meeting between the two school's. EMU leads the all-time series record 31-25, but Ball State has won the last four meetings.
Next Up: The Cardinals travel to Western Michigan Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff in University Arena.
