Women's Hoops Hosts Toledo Saturday For Top Spot In MAC West

Scouting Ball State: For the third straight season the Ball State University women's basketball team has opened Mid-American Conference play with a 3-0 record. The Cardinals extended their home league win streak to six dating back to last season with the 83-75 win over Central Michigan Wednesday, Jan. 14. Sophomore forward Emily Maggert led all scorers with 23 points and had a career high 17 rebounds. Before the game senior guard Porchia Green was honored for scoring her 1,000th point at Western Michigan Saturday, Jan. 10. Both teams are currently 3-0 in conference play and are fighting for the top spot in the MAC West Division. Currently the Cardinals are 7-1 at home this season. Ball State owns a 10-6 overall record.
Scouting Toledo: The Toledo Rockets have not gone 3-0 in the MAC since the 1998-99 season. Toledo is 9-7 overall and are 2-5 on the road. The Rockets have won five straight games since Dec. 30 after a 69-61 victory over Youngstown State. Toledo opened conference play at Western Michigan posting a 69-64 win over the Broncos. The Rockets are 2-0 on the road in conference play. The Rockets defeated Eastern Michigan Wednesday, Jan. 14 80-67 in Ypsilanti. Forward Tanika Mays had a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Series History: This is the 52nd meeting between the two school's with Toledo leading the all-time series record 24-27. Ball State 13-13 at home against the Rockets. In the Cardinals last meeting against Toledo they suffered a 65-60 loss at the MAC Tournament in the quarterfinals at Gund Arena.
Next Up: Ball State begins a two-game roadswing to Northern Illinois Wednesday and will then travel to Akron Saturday, Jan. 24.
