Women's Golf in Virginia Monday and Tuesday

Longwood University will be hosting the 54-hole Tina Barrett Invitational women's golf tournament Monday and Tuesday at The Manor Resort Golf Club located just south of Farmville, Va., and the Ball State women's golf team will be one of 15 teams in the field.
The two-day event will include the host Lancers, along with James Madison, Old Dominion, William and Mary, Radford, High Point, Mount St. Mary's, Charleston Southern, Fairfield, Hartford, Towson, Saint Francis (Pa.), Long Island, and defending champion Methodist.
The Manor Resort Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course that opened in June 2006 and features bent grass greens, fairways, and tees while playing 6,108 yards, par 72 during the event. The schedule of events will include practice rounds for the participating schools Sunday followed by a pre-tournament dinner at The Manor Resort GC. A 36-hole opening day of collegiate golf will take place Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m., before the final round Tuesday starting at 8:30 a.m.
The inaugural Tina Barrett Invitational women's tournament took place last April 2-3 and featured 13 teams, including Longwood. The Lancers (346-334-346--1026) finished 11th as Methodist (310-322-312--944) won the 54-hole event, and Diana Meza of James Madison took medalist honors with her 74-76-78--228.
