Field Hockey Places Two On All-MAC Team
November 07, 2008 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. – Two Ball State field hockey players took home All-Mid-American Conference honors at the league tournament banquet Thursday night.
Senior forward Casey Hunsicker and junior midfielder Brooke MacGillivary both earned second team recognition.
MacGillivary's selection marks the second year in a row she has earned All-MAC honors. The junior logged three assists and added a goal for five points in 17 games. Her three assists came in back-to-back games against then-No. 15 Michigan and Saint Louis in mid-September. She is tied for third on the team with a .667 shot on goal percentage.
Hunsicker, also a two-year starter, is a first year recipient of the award. She has been a consistent offensive threat for the Cardinals, tallying 10 goals in her career. She is third on the team with eight points, scoring four goals this year, three of which came in the last six games of the regular season. Hunsicker also managed 25 shots for second on the Cardinals' squad.
As a team, Ball State has now had at least one player selected to the All-MAC second team for six consecutive years.
The Cardinals wrapped up their season Thursday with a 5-0 loss to Central Michigan in the first round of the MAC Tournament. Ball State finished the season 2-17.
