MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State athletic department will host its second annual basketball Fan Jam sponsored by Centennial Wireless Sunday, November 2 at Worthen Arena from 3-5 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. The free community event allows fans a chance to get “up close and personal” with the 2008-09 men's and women's basketball teams.
The first 250 kids 18 and under will receive small authentic basketballs free for attending the event. In addition, the Ball State cheerleaders, pep band and Charlie Cardinal will be on hand to provide entertainment.
Also, all fans attending the event will receive a Fan Jam Family Pass which can be only picked up at the event. The pass gives four free general admission tickets to the Nov. 15 Ball State men's basketball game against Eastern Illinois and the Dec. 5 BSU women's basketball game against Evansville.
Ball State students will also have the opportunity to pick up a ticket for the Cardinals' Dec. 9 game against Purdue. Students can pick up one ticket with a valid ID for the Purdue game during Fan Jam to secure a reserved seat. All students are required to have a ticket to attend the game.
The event will include team introductions of all of the Cardinals' student-athletes and coaches. Also, there will be an autograph session on the Worthen Arena floor. Posters for both the men's and women's 2008-09 season will be available for fans to pick up as well as food and other promotional items.
Basketball's Fan Jam is similar to the BSU Football Fan Jam the last three seasons, which was awarded a national marketing award in 2007 by the National Association of College Marketing Administrators for targeted group promotion.
The official home of the Cardinals, WLBC 104.1 FM, will be broadcasting live from the event, with Steve Lindell on hand from 2-4 p.m.
