Brooke MacGillivary Named MAC Offensive Player Of The Week
September 25, 2007 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State sophomore forward Brooke MacGillivary has been named the Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office.
In three games last week, MacGillivary totaled six points on two goals and two assists to lead the Cardinals.
MacGillivary was involved in both Ball State goals last Tuesday (Sept. 18) as the Cardinals earned a 2-1 win over Ohio State -- a team receiving votes in the STX/NFHCA Poll. She assisted on a Casey Hunsicker goal in the game's third minute and then scored a goal of her own in the 15th minute to provide all the scoring Ball State would need.
MacGillivary went on to score the Cardinals' first goal of the day in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to 11th-ranked Ohio. She then logged her second assist of the week on a Katie Kloeckener goal Sunday against Kent State.
Through 10 games in 2007, MacGillivary leads Ball State and ranks third in the MAC with 12 points. She has scored a team-high five goals (ranked fourth in the league) and added two assists.
Ball State (2-8, 0-3 MAC) returns to action Sunday at Central Michigan. The Cardinals will play their next home game Oct. 6 versus Missouri State.
