August 01, 2007 | Football
Ball State University's football team will begin practice for the 2007 season Thursday. The incoming freshmen reported to campus Tuesday, while the returnees reported Wednesday.
"We are very excited for the 2007 season and ready to begin preparations," Ball State head coach Brady Hoke says. "We built on the momentum we had at the end of last season, and had a great winter, spring and summer. Now it is time to get to work and be sure all the offseason hard work pays off. Preseason camp will be filled with competition, and the coaching staff will work extremely hard to get this team ready for our Aug. 30, opener vs. Miami University."
The Cardinals return 37 letterwinners from a 2006 team that posted three wins it the final four games of 2006. Thirteen starters return on offense, while nine return to the defense.
Ball State will open the season Aug. 30, vs. Miami University in a Thursday 7 p.m. contest, which will mark the first game in the renovated Scheumann Stadium.
