Ball State Tennis Sweeps Player of the Week Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore Jose Perdomo and freshman Sophie Quist of the Ball State men's and women's tennis teams have been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week which was announced by the league office today.
Perdomo opened the week in a close loss to No. 6 Notre Dame in non-conference action. The sophomore dropped his match 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) to Brett Helgeson at the No. 3 spot. Against MAC leader Western Michigan, Perdomo tallied a two set victory 6-0, 7-6 (5) over Kevin Hayward at No. 3 singles. Perdomo alongside teammate Joe Epkey upset the Broncos No. 34 doubles tandem of Bryan Norville and Alex Birchmeier by a score of 8-3 at the No. 1 flight.
On the women's side, Quist helped the Cardinals to a 5-2 league victory over Northern Illinois. Quist captured a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Lilian Asuaje. The freshman also won at No. 1 doubles beating Megan Brooks and Brooke Forsberg with teammate Haly Calderwood 8-1.
Both teams close out their regular seasons this weekend. Men's tennis will host Northern Illinois on Saturday, April 21 while the women head to Miami. Both matches are set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
