Corbin Earns Academic All-MAC Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. ? Ball State senior guard Kelsey Corbin (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop H.S.) was named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, the league office announced on Thursday. The Cardinals have had a representative on the team for six straight seasons.

“We are very happy for Kelsey. She emulates everything that women's basketball at Ball State stands for with her dedication both on and off of the court,” head coach Tracy Roller said. “We are proud that she is not only receiving accolades for basketball but for her academics as well.”

Corbin, a three-time team captain, owns a 3.66 GPA in psychology and has guided the Cardinals to a MAC West Division title. This is her third Academic All-MAC honor of her career and she becomes just the third Cardinal to be honored for three straight years (Kate Endress and Gena Rusch). She also earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors this season.

Corbin earned Honorable Mention All-MAC honors this season after leading the Cardinals to a 24-6 overall record. She is second on the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game and leads the team with 136 assists. She became the 17^th player in Ball State history to reach the 1,000-career point mark in the MAC Tournament title game and the first player since Endress to reach the milestone.

Corbin and the Cardinals will open postseason play in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) second round. BSU will play host to the winner of the Kentucky/Oakland first round game on Monday night at Worthen Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. and tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for high school age students and younger. Also, tickets for Ball State students are $4.
