February 28, 2007 | Field Hockey
The Ball State field hockey team has added five recruits for the 2007 season, according to head coach Annette Payne.
Elizabeth Blaum, Hannah Jones, Kaitlan Mitchell, Morgan Cloutier and Gretchen Lulow have all signed National Letters of Intent to attend Ball State and compete for the field hockey team.
"The exciting thing about this class is that we are bringing in a ton of talented athletes who are going to be able to contribute to our team," Payne said.
With four Pennsylvania players already on the roster, Ball State added two more from the Keystone State in Blaum and Mitchell. Blaum, a defender from Wilkes Barre, Pa., played at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School in Kingston, Pa., and Mitchell is an attack player from Cocalico High School in Stevens, Pa.
Jones joins the Ball State program as an attacker after playing her high school career in Louisville, Ky., at Dupont Manual High School. Cloutier is a midfielder/attacker from Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Lulow comes to Ball State as a midfielder from Ballwin, Mo., where she played at Cor Jesu Academy.
"What is resounding about all the players in this class is that their work rate is tremendous," Payne said. "These athletes are going to be welcomed immediately into our philosophy and will be able to complement our program right away."
