Carpenter Signs With Men's Tennis

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis program has signed Derek Carpenter (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Southside) to a National Letter of Intent to play for Cardinal head coach Bill Richards.
Carpenter has played at No. 1 singles all four years for Ft. Wayne South. He holds a career record of 99-13. Carpenter was selected to the all-state team all four years. He finished his career undefeated in conference play at 36-0 and was also crowned state champion in 2007.
Carpenter participated in the Junior Davis Cup playing at No. 1 singles as a junior and senior. He has managed a USTA (United States Tennis Association) record of 374-153.
"We are very excited to have Derek join our program," said Richards. "He is a very experienced national level junior player and the 2007 Indiana High School state champion. He is capable of becoming an outstanding college player."
