Women's Volleyball Falls to Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Bama Bash Opener

Offensively, the Cardinals were paced by junior Angie Parrell (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights H.S.) and freshman Julie Breivogel (Boonville, Ind./Boonville H.S.) who tallied six kills apiece. Parrell would also lead all players with four total blocks.

The opening set saw the Cardinals fall behind 5-2 early before rallying to tie the score at 11-11 on Parrell's second kill off the face of a Panthers player in the match. UWM would regain the lead and take a five-point advantage at the 20-15 mark, before a 7-0 BSU run gave the Cardinals their first advantage at 22-20. UWM would regain a three-point lead at 26-23 and maintain the advantage at 28-25.
BSU's Cochran would then erase the UWM edge and tie the score at 28-28 with back-to-back kills and a block assists with
Wisconsin-Milwaukee would control the entire second game, jumping ahead 5-1 on the way to a 30-10 game victory.
Breivogel would get the Cardinals on the board first in the third game, as the teams played to an early 6-6 tie. However a five-point UMW run would give the Panthers an 11-6 edge it would not relinquish the rest of the game, winning the frame 30-22.

Overall, the Cardinals were limited to a .064 (24-17-109) attack percentage, while the Panthers hit .312 (56-17-125). While BSU held an 8.5 to 3.5 edge in blocks, UWM won the battle in the backcourt with 55 digs compared to BSU's 40.
Sarah Moore was one of four Panthers to post double-figure kills, with a match-best 13. Jamie Gabrielsen and Cheryl Hegemann each added 12, while Monica Ferguson collected 11. Becky Peters paced UWM with 14 digs.
