Soccer Blanks IUPUI in Exhibition Play Saturday

"Overall, I am very pleased with how we played today," said first-year head coach Michelle Salmon. "As a team, we turned in a solid defensive effort, which helped us generate a lot of quality chances on offense. I was also excited about the team's ability to embrace and rally around a new system of play."
The Cardinals did not waste any time breaking onto the scoreboard, as freshman Megan Ridley (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central H.S.) made the most of her BSU debut, notching the first goal of the contest
The score would remain 1-0 until 14 minutes into the second half, when senior Vandi Ogden (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) found the back of the net off a BSU corner kick.
Six minutes later, sophomore Sarah Schumacker (Hamilton, Ohio/Fairfield) pushed the score to 3-0 in favor of Ball State with her first of two goals in the contest. Schumacker would cap the scoring with
Defensively, the Cardinals were able to limit a very potent Jaguar offense to fewer than 10 shots, including a flurry of saves with 15 minutes left in the second half to preserve the shutout.
