Men's Golf Posts Best Team Score In Final Round; Cardinals Finish Second At Marshall

The 286 result propelled the Cardinals to a second-place finish, after entering the final round tied for sixth.
BSU managed rounds of 298-294-286=878 to finish second behind Eastern Michigan's 294-285-289=868.
"Despite the conditions and the wait, we put together a really good day," said BSU head coach Mike Fleck. "We weren't happy with our performance in round one, so our goal was to move up with today's round and pass some teams who probably shouldn't have been ahead of us. I like the way we finished."
After a second-round, one-under par round of 70, C.D. Hockersmith posted a final-round 73 to finish with a 218 total and tie for 10th overall. Patrick Wilkes-Krier fired rounds of 75-74-70=219 to finish in 12th.
Wayne Denger tied for 24th overall (76-74-72=222), Brandon Boomsma (74-78-71=223) tied for 31st and Andy Skillman (74-76-77=227) tied for 50th. Austin Steele (80-74-73=227), playing as an individual, also tied for 50th.
The tournament was played at the par-71 Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, W. Va.
