Scully Leads Track at Hillsdale Relays

Senior Jill Scully led the way placing fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:45.07. The time is an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark and a BSU-best this season. Scully placed behind four unattached runners in the event making her the top finisher amongst collegiate participators.
Junior Rose Lehe and freshman Vanessa Gilbert competed in their first 3,000 steeplechase of the season. Lehe placed eighth with a time of 11:13.53. Gilbert came in behind Lehe placing 19th with a time of 11:49.79.
Senior Tiffany Notarfrancisco added a top-ten finish in the hammer throw. Notarfrancisco threw for a mark of 161-06 in the hammer throw good for tenth-place honors.
Juniors Amanda Brewer and Tamela Lewis placed 11th in their respective events. Brewer clocked in at 1:05.72 in the 400 hurdles, while Lewis notched a mark of 17-11 1/2 in the long jump.
Junior Alison Zuidervlet chipped in placing 17th in the shot put with a toss of 40-05.
DES MOINES, Iowa -- The remainder of the squad opened competition at the 97th annual Drake Relays Friday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. The Cardinals are amongst elite competition. The field includes athletes from 78 foreign countries, while a total of 784 athletes will compete in the women's university division representing 56 universities. Overall, 8,148 athletes will be in attendance, representing 720 teams. The three-day event is non-team scoring.
Senior Jennifer McCoy posted BSU's top finish placing 14th in the 100-hurdles with a time of 14.38. Finishing close behind, sophomore Amber Williams placed 18th with a clocking of 14.45.
Competing in the 100-dash, freshman Jeanne Roberts placed 20th with a time of 12.21. Senior Bridgett Coleman turned in the 24th-best time in the 400-hurdles (1:03.87).
The Cardinals competed in two relays. The 4x200 team notched a seventh-place finish (1:37.56), while the 4x100 team earned 15th-place honors with a tiem of 46.66.
BSU will finish its regular season Saturday at the Butler Twilight held in Indianapolis, Ind.
