Track Shows Strength at Pre-Conference Meet

Senior Nicole Hartford and junior Christina Poulson each won two events. Hartford led the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.01 and crossed first in the 1,500 with a clocking of 4:45.29. Poulson won the 100 dash (12.40) and the 200 (25.19).
Off the field, seniors Jennifer McCoy and Tiffany Notarfrancisco picked up wins in their respective events. McCoy placed first in the shot put with a mark of 39-01 ¾, while Notarfrancisco took home top honors in the hammer throw with a team-best toss of 167-03. McCoy added a second-place finish in the javelin (102-00).
Junior Tamelca Lewis added a first-place finish in the 400 crossing the line in 58.36. Freshman Lanae Stovall rounded out the first-place finishers winning the long jump with a mark of 16-08 ½.
Junior Rose Lehe posted two runner-up finishes in the 800 (2:26.62) and the 1,500 (4:59.19). Teammate Cara Collins chipped in with second-place finishes in the discus (117-07) and the hammer throw (148-04).
Also placing second for BSU were senior Crystal Winfrey (400, 1:02.33), junior Ali Zuidervliet (shot put, 39-01), sophomore Katie Robbins (pole vault, 8-11 ¾) and freshmen Jessica Genovese (high jump, 5-01) and Aunastasia Murphy (100, 12.71).
The Cardinals will divide as a team next weekend. Part of the team will head to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays held April 27-29, while the remainder of the team travels to Hillsdale, Mich. for the Hillsdale Relays held April 28-29.
