Jennifer McCoy Named MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

McCoy took home third-place honors in the heptathlon Friday with an overall score of 5,291. The score broke the BSU school record (5,202), is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks 12th nationally. The senior recorded marks of 19-07 ½ in the long jump, 5 ½ in the high jump, 121-01 in the javelin throw, 39-08 in the shot put and times of 14.08 in the 100 hurdles, 25.79 in the 200 and 2:27.54 in the 800. Her score of 19-07 ½ in the long jump is an NCAA regional qualifying mark, while her time of 14.09 in the hurdles is a personal record.
This is the first time McCoy has received the award in 2006 and she is the first Cardinal to be recognized by the MAC during the outdoor season.
The Ball State outdoor track and field team heads to Anderson, Ind. Saturday for the Anderson University Pre-Conference Meet. The meet kicks off at 11 a.m. with the field events.
