Tony Epkey Named MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Epkey played a key role as the Cardinals earned at least a share of the MAC regular season title with back-to-back victories last week over IPFW (7-0) and Western Michigan (4-3). Undefeated in his four matches, Epkey picked up his ninth win of the season at No. 3 singles when he downed IPFW's Hermann Kuschke 6-1, 6-1. Epkey also teamed with brother, Jarrod, at No. 2 doubles to secure an 8-5 victory versus the Mastodons.
Additionally, Epkey aided the Cardinals in two points versus No. 52 Western Michigan Saturday. He and brother, Jarrod sparked BSU's momentum when they were the first match to finish and win at No. 2 doubles. The duo added its 10th victory at the No. 2 position with the win. The victory also improved the duo's record to 21-7 overall this season. In singles play versus WMU, Epkey picked up the Cardinals' third point of the match with a 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
