Ball State Pentathlon opens the indoor track season

The Ball State Pentathlon Invitational was held this past weekend, December 9th at the field sports building here in Muncie. The Cardinals had three participants competing against Dayton, and Cincinnati University.
Leading the way for Ball State was Lanae Stovall who finished sixth overall with 3299 points. Stovall placed third in the 60 meter hurdles (9.11), sixth in the long jump (16-10), and eighth in the shot put (33-09) earning three team points for the Cardinals.
Lauren McNichols finished in 11th place overall with 3104 points. She placed second in the high jump with a height of 5-06. In the 60 meter hurdles (9.61) she placed sixth, and in the long jump she placed eighth with a distance of 16-08 .
Freshman Jenna Schmitmeyer placed 14th overall in her first collegiate meet. Her best event was the 800 meter run where she finished in fifth place with a time of 2:33.89. Schmitmeyer posted a time of 9.65 in the 60 meter hurdles good enough for eighth place.
Ashley Wilhelm won the overall event with 3783 points. She finished second in the 60 meter hurdles (9.09), second in the long jump (18-08), and third in the 800 meter run in 2:31.01.
