Quay To Play In NFHCA Senior All-Star Game
October 24, 2006 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State senior forward Lindsay Quay has earned a spot in the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Star Game, as announced Monday by the NFHCA.
Quay will join 37 other seniors from around the nation for the all-star game, which is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C., on the campus of Wake Forest University. The event coincides with the Division I Field Hockey Final Four.
Quay was one of two Mid-American Conference players selected for the game, along with Central Michigan goalkeeper Danielle Frank. She becomes the 15th Cardinal selected to play in the game and the first since Jen Strodel in 2004.
"It's a good honor for Lindsay and a great opportunity for her," Ball State coach Annette Payne said. "I'm really proud of her for her accomplishments and what she has given to this program."
With a career-high 12 goals this season, Quay has climbed into a tie for seventh place in Ball State history with 35 career goals. She is one goal away from sixth place and three shy of fifth place.
Quay's 12 goals lead the MAC, and her 93 shots also rank first in the conference. She also ranks second in the league in game-winning goals with three and fifth in points with 25.
Quay has scored seven goals in Ball State's past seven games, helping the Cardinals win five games during that stretch and climb as high as a tie for first in the MAC standings. Three of those goals came Oct. 14 in a 4-2 victory against Kent State. The hat trick was the second of Quay's collegiate career.
Quay has been named MAC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. She is a two-time All-MAC First Team selection and the 2003 MAC Freshman of the Year. In 2005, she was named to the NFHCA All-West Region Second Team.
A four-year letterwinner at Ball State, Quay has started all 73 games the Cardinals have played in her career.
