Oyama Wins First Round at 2006 Wilson ITA Fall Regional Championship

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. ? The Ball State University men's tennis program ended day two at the ITA Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Minnesota on Friday (Oct. 20).

Tetta Oyama (Shizauoka, Japan) captured a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Ty Schaub from Ohio State. Purdue's Eric Hodgman defeated BSU's Jimmy Brannon (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 while teammate Jose Perdomo (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Jose) defeated Anthony Teuful of Wright State, 6-4,6-4..

Oyama continues action on Friday (Oct. 20) when he faces Travis Curran of Toledo University at 8 am.

Also competing at the ITA Regional in doubles action will be Joe and Jarrod Epkey (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), along with duo Aaron Phillips (Effingham, Ill./Saint Anthony) and Jorge Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/San Ignacio). BSU twosome Perdomo and Joe Vallee (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) rounds out the group of Cardinals particpating in doubles play on Friday.
