Women's Tennis Falls at Indiana

To begin the afternoon in doubles play, the No. 3 match finished initially. Indiana's Marah Calvo and Stephanie Heller triumphed over Ball State's Jennifer Pollack and Rachel Lemar, 8-0. In the No. 2 doubles position, Katie Owens and Stephanie Farrar battled the Hoosiers' Alba Berdala and Cecile Perton. However, IU's duo came out on top, 8-3. At the top spot, Jessica Thompson and Haly Calderwood fell to Indiana's No. 37 Sarah Batty and Laura McGaffigan, 8-3.
The first singles match to finish was at the No. 6 spot where Retter suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Calvo. The No. 2 singles battle was the next to finish as Farrar fell short against No. 11 McGaffigan 6-3, 6-1. Pollack's match was the next to conclude at the No. 3 position. She took on IU's Berdala who posted a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Thompson also competed against a nationally-ranked singles player in Batty. The Hoosier won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Calderwood suffered a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Sigrid Fischer at the No. 4 slot, while Owens rounded out singles play with a three-set 6-7 (7-5), 6-1, 1-0 (5) setback to Heller at the No. 5 spot.
The Cardinals continue play when interstate rival IPFW visits Muncie Friday at 6:30 p.m.
