Men's Tennis Sweeps Wright State in Season Opener

Brother duo of Tony and Jarrod Epkey tipped off the Cardinals doubles lineup in the No. 1 position, posting an 8-2 victory over WSU's Brian Butt and Lance Koetter. In the No. 2 slot, Joe Epkey and Joe Vallee tallied an 8-3 win over Craig Smith and Nicolas Camalleri. Closing out the doubles success was Patrick Thompson and Jose Perdomo in the No. 3 hole. The tandem cruised past Dan Sundersingh and Tim Hershner 8-2.
In singles play, Joe Epkey kept the momentum going by recording a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Koettner in the No. 1 position. Tony Epkey was also victorious in the No. 2 slot, where he took down Camalleri 6-1, 6-4. In the No. 3 hole, Jarrod Epkey found success with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Smith.
Rounding out the singles wins were Thompson with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Butt, Polhamus with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sundersingh and Danny Vidal with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Michael Hall.
The Cardinals (1-0) continue their homestand over the weekend with a 5 p.m. matchup versus IUPUI Friday and a 1 p.m. showdown with Northwestern Sunday. Both matches will be played at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
