Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes Fourth at MAC Championships

Athens, Ohio – The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team completed the final round of the Mid-American Conference Championships Sunday, placing fourth with a total of 435 points. Miami finished first in the tournament with 562.5 points, followed by Ohio (507), Eastern Michigan (492), Ball State (435), Bowling Green (404.5), Toledo (368), Marshall (298), Buffalo (277), and Akron (250).

Mary Brinkoetter (Decatur, Ill./Saint Teresa) started the Cardinals off with a second place finish and school record in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.26.

Earning All-MAC First Team honors, senior Sarah Welter (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was the only other top-five competitor for the Cardinals, placing fourth in the 100 yard freestyle (52.36). Sophomores Brinkoetter and Brittany Sayler (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) were presented with All-MAC Second Team honors.
