Gymnasts Earn Community Service Award

The Ball State University women's gymnastics team, under the direction of head coach Mary Roth, was awarded the Russ Vernon Award at the Muncie-Delaware Clean and Beautiful's Annual Awards Ceremony. The award is for exemplary efforts by a youth group to improve the environment.
The gymnastics team won the Russ Vernon Award for volunteering time to help clean up the Old West End and for helping on a Habitat for Humanity house in Muncie.
The Ball State women's gymnastics team contributed to BSU student-athletes performing over 2,000 hours of community service in 2001-02. Other gymnastics team projects included Salvation Army's Adopt-A-Family, assisting the Red Cross and the United Way.
