Ball State’s Connor Gross Named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced this week's Player of the Week honors Tuesday afternoon. Senior Connor Gross was named this week's Defensive Player of the Week.

Gross averaged 3.29 digs per set in Ball State's victories over Saint Francis (PA) and Penn State. The senior setter tallied 11 in Ball State's sweep of the Red Flash on Friday. On Saturday, he turned in 12 digs with three blocks (one solo) to help the Cardinals defeat then No. 14 Penn State, 3-1.

The Offensive Player of the Week honor went to Lewis' Jacob Schmiegelt. Schmiegelt had a .526 hitting percentage in the Flyers' two victories.

Gross and the rest of the Cardinal squad will return to the court Friday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. at Harvard.
