
Men’s Volleyball Places Two on Preseason All-MIVA Team

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced the preseason poll and the preseason all-MIVA team Thursday afternoon.
Ohio State, the reigning national champions, earned eight first place votes placing them at the top of list. Lewis fell right behind them in second place and Loyola had 62 points for third. The Ball State Cardinals earned 53 points and sit at fourth place in the preseason standings.
The Cardinals also have two players on the preseason All-MIVA team, Brendan Surane and Matt Walsh. Surane, a senior outside hitter, earned his third letter last season and was named to the All-MIVA Second Team. He led the team last season with a career high of 253 kills for a 3.09 kills per set average.
Walsh, a junior middle attacker, earned his second letter at Ball State last season and was named to the All-MIVA Second Team. Walsh also marked a career-high of 158 kills and 20 aces in the 2016 campaign.
