NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Ball State men's tennis team took down Lipsomb 7-0 Saturday afternoon in Nashville. With the win the Cardinals improve to 6-7 on the year.
Ball State started off strong winning the doubles point after Ray Leonard paired up with teammate Austin Smith to take down Miguel Cortez and Stuart Tierney by a score of 8-7 (2) on court one. The freshmen duo of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz managed an 8-6 defeat over Daniel Hernandez and Rob Mitchell at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action the Cardinals took all six matches from Bisons. Patrick Downs won in straight sets at No. 5 singles giving up only one game per set, 6-1, 6-1. On court one Elliott earned the 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over Mitchell. Leonard, Andersen and Smith also took their opponents down in straight sets in each of their respective positions.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues dual action when it travels to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on North Dakota Friday at 2 p.m. and will then face UNLV Saturday for an 11 a.m. first serve.
