MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State gymnastics team registered season-high team scores on the bars, beam and floor exercise, but it was not enough to surpass No. 25 Kent State. The Golden Flashes picked up a 195.700-193.950 win over the Cardinals on Think Pink night Friday evening.
On the vault, Brooke Evans and Erin Patchey tied for fourth place with scores of 9.800 to lead the Cardinals to a 48.000 team score.
Brooklyn Schumacher finished in second place in the bars with a 9.775. Angie Hosbach and Madison Shorts tied for fourth place with scores of 9.725. Shorts' score was a season best. The Cardinals finished with a season-best 48.500 on the event.
Ball State’s Leah Wilson turned in a career-best 9.825 on the beam to tie teammate Kayla Beckler for second place. The Cardinals turned in a season-best 48.675.
Denasiha Christian brought down the house with her performance that gave her a season-best score of 9.900 for a share of first place with Kent State’s Marie Case. Sarah Ebeyer tallied a career-best in the event with a 9.725 to help the Cardinals earn a season-best score 48.775.
Ball State will compete at Illinois-Chicago Sat., March 1, in a 5 p.m. meet.
