AKRON, Ohio -- This past weekend, Ball State indoor track & field sent select student-athletes to the second annual Pole Vault Convention host by Akron, which featured some of the nation's top young pole vaulters.

The elite pole vault competition was the highlight of the three-day Pole Vault Convention – which also included an all-inclusive pole vault experience for athletes, coaches and parents that featured classroom sessions, learn-by-doing clinics, and competitions – at Stile Athletics Field House.

Freshman Elizabeth Eversole (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian) led the Cardinals in the competition portion of the event, tying for 23rd overall by successfully clearing a career-best height of 11'-0.75" (3.37m), which is the third-best individual effort in program history.

Freshman Megan Dearlove (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw Community) tied for 42nd overall with a vault of 9'-7" (2.92m), while freshmen Rachael Walker (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf) and Becca Carpenter (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's) each cleared 9'-1" (2.77m) to finish 50th and 51st, respectively.

The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action Saturday, when it travels to Bowling Green, Ohio, for the Mel Brodt Invitational.
