LAS VEGAS, Nevada - The Ball State women's basketball team (2-4) had four players score in double figures to lead the Cardinals to an 76-64 win over Tennessee Tech (2-4) at the South Point Shootout Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Nathalie Fontaine led the way for the Cardinals with her first double-double of the season with a 16 point, 11 rebound performance.  Fontaine was also named to the South Point Shootout All-Tournament team.  Freshman guard Jill Morrison went 3-for-4 from the three point line and added 15 points.  Junior guard Brittany Carter also chipped in 15 points, while freshman center Renee Bennett, in her first career start, contributed a personal best 14 points.

The Cardinals started the second half off with a 22-12 run that was capped off by a three pointer from Morrison off of the assist from senior guard Brandy Woody, making it a 61-48 ball game with 10:50 left on the clock. 

The Golden Eagles cut the lead to 64-57 with 6:50 to play in the second half after a 9-3 run, but the Cardinals finished the game on a 12-7 run to seal the 12-point victory.

For the game, Ball State out-rebounded Tennessee Tech, 46-to-35 and scored 18 points off of the Golden Eagles 14 turnovers. 

Ball State started the game down 4-0 to Tennessee Tech, but the Cardinals quickly responded with a 20-7 run to take a 13-point lead (20-7) over the Golden Eagles with 13:33 left to play in the first half. Back-to-back baskets by Bennett contributed to that run, Morrison and Fontaine also combined for seven free throws for the Cardinals. The Golden Eagles answered with a 14-2 surge of their own to go ahead of the Cardinals, 27-24, with 5:51 on the clock.

After three lead changes and five ties, Ball State would take a 39-36 lead into the intermission.  At the half, Fontaine led the Cardinals with nine points while Bennett had eight.

The Ball State women's basketball team returns home after a four-game road stretch when the Cardinals host Western Kentucky, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.  Ball State will then travel to Wyoming, Dec. 14 before hosting Louisville in Worthen Arena, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.
