MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State women's basketball player Nathalie Fontaine was named Monday as the Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week, marking the second straight week Fontaine has earned the weekly award.
Fontaine averaged 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game for the week in MAC action. The freshman led the Ball State attack against Central Michigan Thursday, Feb. 7, with a career-high 23 points plus added four rebounds and one blocked shot.
Fontaine scored 14 of her 23 points in the second half alone. She helped the Cardinals take down the Chippewas 68-61, knocking them out of a tie for first place in the MAC West race.
Fontaine ended the week with a 14-point, six-rebound performance versus Toledo Sunday, Feb. 10. The Cardinals lost a hard-fought battle to the Rockets, 68-64.
The Ball State women's basketball team continues conference action on the road at Akron Saturday with a 5 p.m. tipoff in Rhodes Arena.
