MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State sophomore Ray Leonard (Bloomington, Ind./North) was named the Mid-American Conference Tennis Player of the Week for the third time in his career.  The Conference Officials announced today.

"Ray had a great weekend and has had a great start to our dual match season," said Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards. He has worked hard and it is nice to see him rewarded with this honor.

Leonard helped the Cardinals improve to 3-2 overall on the season after going 3-0 at No. 1 singles and No.1 doubles.  With the wins Leonard now owns a 4-1 record in singles action.  He won in straight sets over Detroit Mercy (7-5, 6-2), Eastern Illinois (6-3, 6-2) and Dayton (6-2, 6-4). 

The Ball State men's tennis team will face its third Big Ten opponent of the season when it faces Indiana Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Bloomington.
