What's On Tap: The Cardinals suffered its first road loss of the season Saturday at Marshall by a score of 70-45. Ball State had two players score in double figures with junior guard Brandy Woody leading the way with 12 points. Sophomore guard Shelbie Justice chipped in 11 points while junior forward Katie Murphy ended the night with nine. Woody has now led the Cardinals in scoring for the second straight game this season after having a 17 point performance Nov. 13 at home versus Butler.
About IPFW: About IPFW: The Mastodons own a 1-1 overall record after losing their season opener to SIU Edwardsville, 74-67 on Nov. 11 and then rebounded with a victory Nov. 11 after defeating Grace 68-52. IPFW has three players averaging double digits after two games, Haley Seibert (16.5), Amanda Hyde (13.0), and Rachel Mauk (10.0). The Mastodons return two out of five starters from last seasons squad.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State. Sallee's career coaching record is 136-112 and he is 0-3 with the Cardinals. He was named the the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10. Chris Paul is in his eighth year as IPFW's head coach. Paul owns a career record of 82-120 as a head coach. Last year the Mastodons were 9-21 overall and placed ninth in the Summit league after a 6-12 conference record.
The Series: The Cardinals return home for the third time this season after their first road trip Saturday, Nov. 17. This is the fourth meeting all-time between Ball State and IPFW. The Cardinals lead the all-time series 3-0. Ball State's last win over the Mastodons was a 73-62 victory at Worthen Arena in 2006-07.
A Familiar Face: IPFW's Women's Basketball Sports Information Director Kit Stetzel used to be a graduate assistant for the Ball State Media Relations department. Stetzel earned a masters degree from Ball State in May of 2008.
