Ball State's gymnastics team hosted Kent State in a Mid-American Conference meet in Irving Gym in the school's Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
Despite a season high on the bars and the beam, Ball State fell to Kent State 193.650 to 192.775.
The Cardinals began the meet on the vault, while Kent State competed on the bars. Ball State tallied a 47.575, while the Golden Flashes managed a 48.675 on the bars.
Aftyn Siemer led Ball State with a 9.675 on the vault, while Nicole Allen managed a 9.600. Siemer managed a fifth place finish.
In the second rotation of the meet, Ball State moved to the bars, while Kent State competed on the vault. The Cardinals tallied a 48.650 on the bars, and the Golden Flashes managed a 48.825 on the vault. Ball State's mark on the bars was a season high team score.
After two events, Kent State led 97.500 to 96.225.
Julie Cotter led the Cardinals on the bars with a first place score of 9.800. That mark also was a career high for Cotter. Angie Hosbach and Brooklyn Schumacher tied for fourth with a pair of 9.75's. Those scores marked career highs for both Hosbach and Schumacher.
Ball State moved to the beam and tallied a team score of 48.200, while the Golden Flashes registered a 47.625 on the floor. Ball State's total on the beam was a season high for the Cardinals. After three events, Kent State held a 145.125 to 144.425 slight edge.
Siemer led the Cardinals on the beam with third place score of 9.700, followed by identical 9.675 scores from Samantha Santos and Leah Wilson. Santos score marked a career high for her on the beam.
Ball State finished the meet on the floor and tallied a 48.350, while Kent State managed a 48.525 on the beam.
Siemer led the Cardinals with a second place showing on the floor with a score of 9.800. Schumacher placed third on the floor with a 9.725.
