MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State baseball program celebrated its annual alumni weekend October 3-4 in Muncie. The annual event included an alumni baseball game at Ball Diamond, a golf outing and festivities surrounding the BSU football homecoming game against Toledo.

During the homecoming game, the Ball State honored the 1999 Cardinals baseball team that claimed the Mid-American Conference regular season championship with a program-best 42-18 overall record. Members of the 1999 team were honored on field during the football game. The 1999 team ranked as high as No. 25 in the Baseball America poll, posted a program-record 25-6 record in league play and had five players selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Ball State baseball capped the weekend with a shotgun-style start golf outing at Hickory Hills Golf Course. The winning group included Bob Franchetti, Scott O'Dell, Joe Winkle and Brian Hill.

The Cardinals, who won the 2009 MAC West Division title, open the 2010 season Feb. 19 with a three-game series at College World Series participant Arkansas.
