MUNCIE, Ind. - Morry Mannies, the long-time voice of the Cardinals, will be honored March 3 at halftime of his final regular season game announcing for Ball State men's basketball when the Cardinals host Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
General admission tickets for the game will be sold for 50 cents -- what it cost to go to a Ball State game in 1956 when Mannies became the Voice of the Cardinals. Tickets must be purchased in multiples of two. Additionally, parking for the game will be free to fans but donor lot parking will be reserved as usual.
Following the game, a reception honoring Mannies will be held at the BSU Alumni Center at 4:30 p.m. with the program set for a 5:30 p.m. start. Tickets for the reception are $30 for an individual and $56 for a couple. Fans interested in attending the reception must contact the Cardinal Varsity Club office at 765-285-8120 or email@example.com to RSVP by Wednesday, February 29.
Mannies is in his 56th and final year at the microphone broadcasting Cardinals' games this year. During the past 56 years, Mannies has broadcast over 5,500 Ball State and high school football and basketball games and logged over 30,000 hours behind the microphone for WLBC/WXFN Radio in Muncie. He has served as Ball State's play-by-play announcer for both football and men's basketball since 1956. Mannies is a three-time winner of the Indiana Sportscaster of the Year Award and a three-time recipient of the Mid-American Conference Sportscaster of the Year honor.
