MUNCIE, Ind. - - With the first week of fall workouts behind it, the Ball State softball team took a moment to celebrate the accomplishments of last season as Ball State University President Dr. Jo Ann Gora hosted the team for dinner at Bracken House Sunday evening.
Winners of three of the past four MAC regular season championships, the Cardinals have been regular guests of President Gora's at the Bracken House as she hosts dinner for all of BSU's MAC Championship winners and NCAA Tournament qualifiers each year.
Nestled inside Muncie's historic Westwood Neighborhood just a few blocks from Ball State's campus, Bracken House serves as home for BSU's president and a location for many receptions, dinners, and other official university events.
The 1937 Georgian Revival style home was generously donated by Alexander and Rosemary Bracken. The university refurbished the home in the late 1990s with the help of its original architect, Scholer Corporation, Lafayette, Indiana.
The Ball State softball program returns to work this week with more individual training, before starting team practice next week. The Cardinals kick off their 2012 fall schedule Saturday, Sept. 8, when it hosts Taylor University for a noon game at the BSU Softball Complex.
